The motifs of our thriller, props, actors and costumes
(Propps and actors clip)
Costumes-We
managed to keep our costumes close to what we originally decided. Smart causal
wear for leaving sixth form and party outfits for the party scene. I was
originally going to wear a dress but ended up wearing a skirt, this was adapted
on the script as we went along. Props and actors -We originally decided
to audition a cast for our thriller but in the end this seemed to complicated
as they may have not been available for the days we needed to film and also we
would need them on demand as re shooting would have needed to be scheduled
also. With this in mind we cast ourselves and our friends, this seemed sensible
as we were always available to film and we knew the script and our idea so
could make it look how we had visualised. The props used had to be placed in a location
and not moved as otherwise things would look displaced if they had jumped to a
different place and this would ruin the continuity of our thriller. We made
sure the script was correct for the props being used as vodka and coke was
originally scripted but we used Malibu and pineapple instead, so quickly adapted
the script to suit. Motifs-We have two motifs in our thriller to fit in with the
codes and conventions of a thriller. The dullness and darkness of the setting
should empathises that something bad with happen, but or main two motifs are when
Maddie walks across the road and nearly gets run over and the picture of her
and Rose in which her face is cut out. The aim of these is to show the audience
that something bad is going to happen to the character Maddie as we have the foreshadowing
of her death being portrayed. In the end she dies because of her friend Rose,
but in the film irony is created as Rose is the one saving her from the car and
with her in the picture. This irony hopefully tricks the audience into thinking
Rose would never harm Maddie, we mislead the audience with this and also the
bloody hand (they see my bloody hands, then Maddie’s on a tree but they don’t know
who’s hand it is and then back to my hands, this may lead to them believing it
was my hand upon the tree), all building up to a twist and we have emphasised the
closeness of the two characters with shots of them walking together.
